At the award ceremony in Brussels on March 21st, Franc Bogovič, a member of the European Parliament, was declared a winner of the MEP Award 2018 in the Research&Innovation category for his project “Smart rural areas in the 21st Century”. “Smart Villages” are aimed at implementing successful practices by combining numerous European policies, from Digital Single Market, digital platforms, urban-rural links, the sharing and collaborative economy, rural mobility and the bioeconomy. Digitalized and modernized rural areas will maintain population of the European suburbs, improve access to services and therefore improve quality of life of surburban residents.
On the initiative of Spominčica, MEP Franc Bogovič has become a member of the European Alzheimer Alliance in the European Parliament. He has also signed the Glasgow declaration and the Alzheimer Europe initiative to set dementia as a European priority, which has been a goal of Spominčica for many years. Therefore, the topic of our conference ASK 2018 will be “Dementia – priority of our society”.
