Slovenia is one of the few countries in the world which have a national action plan for dementia and is alone to have one in the Balkans. Slovenia is showing the world what can be done when you have energy, commitment, political will and funding. Being small is no impediment to dream big. In hearing the wonderful and heartwarming experiences of medical professionals and caring professionals alike one cannot help to wonder whether Slovenia could not push the boat a little further and commit to more initiatives in the areas of long term care and home support to family. A little goes a long way in a country which is already prepared to make the most of what it is given. It is an honour to be here today (ASK 2018) and we will look forward to seeing Slovenia increasing its influence in the global, regions and national effort to face and beat the dementia epidemic.
